What a Circus...

While Emily is away at the DotMom conference in Dallas with some girls from church...we're keeping the kids! Last night Lily and Nonna went to Richland's Chili Supper and Carnival...she came home with cinnamon rolls!


Poppa and I hung out with Layne...



Today after a breakfast of champions (aka Howard's donuts), we played all morning...


Layne was into 'fixing' everything!


Lily and I ran to the grocery and she got to drive the cart!


Then we headed to the Shriner's Circus!


Where Lily and Layne chose to ride the ponies instead of the elephants!


It was a 'low rent' circus, but it was well done with cotton candy and everything!


We enjoyed it...Layne loved the 1st half!


Then since Lily has stopped biting her nails...we went to Sweet and Sassy for a manicure!


Dad cooked us a delicious steak dinner and Lily wanted to make Nonna an early birthday cake, so that is what we did! We iced it with the new cool whip frosting and it was delicious!


And after baths...


We sang Happy Birthday!


What a fun filled day!! Here's to hoping we all have a good nights sleep!

Spring Mantle

I had the most Easter stuff, so we no have an Easter mantle! I love that I was able to find tall curly willow! Today my valentine flowers are the centerpiece and I think they are perfect...I think it means I'll need fresh tulips each week till the end of March!

Happy 60th Birthday...

To the most loving, caring and supportive daddy!  Despite our talks of a big party or a trip to Vegas, we knew dad would rather just let the day pass without any mention of his special day.  So, we settled on a fish fry at Jim and Caleb's shop with the family and what a fun time we all had!    

                       Lily had fun playing with her friend Riley, whose daddy is Caleb's best friend.

 Layne just loves being outside...how cute is he in his carhart!

 Lily and Riley took turns driving Layne around in the dune buggy...not sure what was happening in this picture, but look at those matching pouty faces!

 We loved that Julie and Mike got to come!

 (and so was the cake!)  We did a poker theme...

but instead of poker we ended up having the best time playing left, right, center!  Lily caught on quick and was happy to blow on the dice to bring her daddy good luck!

 However, it was her momma that had all the good luck!  She won 2 hands!

 I think everyone had a fun night!

The 16th hole...

While in Phoenix for meetings, we attended a networking event in a suite on the 16th hole of the Phoenix Open. This is known as the rowdiest hole in golf...Tiger won't play the tournament because of this hole (even though he hit a hole in one there at the beginning of his career). It was loud, there was a lot of $1 bets being placed on whose caddy would touch the greens first, whose ball would be closest to the pin, etc. Unfortunately all my fav golfers had started on the 10th so they were done by the time we got there. It was a good time and who doesn't love being outside in the 74 degree sun in January, but once time is probably enough for me!






The buffet dinner included an awesome cupcake bar!

Weekend with Friends!

Torrey and Sarah (and their families) came to visit this weekend. We had the best time hanging out, visiting some Memphis treasures and eating lots of yummy food!
On Friday night some of the other UT AXOs came for dinner...











On Saturday we went to the Children's museum...mom and Lily met us there!








We went and got manicures while the kids caught a nap, had a dance party, enjoyed a 'taste of Memphis' and played poker!





On Sunday we went and visited the ducks at the Peabody and enjoyed the playground near our house.











Can't wait for our next visit!

Thanks to Pinterest...

I have a new way to hard boil eggs. In a cupcake pan on 325 for 30 mins...them into an ice bath until they cool. The shell came off so easily and they really are the most delicious hard boiled egg I've ever eaten (oh and the brown spots wash off in the ice bath).

Valentine's Day Mantle...

I got everything valentines and heart out and this is where I ended. I think it will work for this year!

There were 8 in the cab...

And Tony said that's nothing...I've seen 12! We had such a fun Saturday night at the Luke Bryan concert! "We didn't want this night to end," but the fiddler player fell off the back of the stage and well we can't hang like we use to could!!

All the talk about bread,milk and eggs

Had me wanting French toast! Good thing it was Tuesday (Ray's night to cook each week), because he makes some delicious French toast! We didn't get the ice storm they called for, but we got a bit of frozen rain...which made for some interesting driving conditions.

But it was enough to close Jackpot Bingo, so you know it must be bad! Ha!  My Bible study was canceled as was about everything else in Memphis.  A little ice goes a long way...anyone headed to Arkansas over the bridge would have to agree as they are probably still in traffic!

Delicious!

I made a delicious Rosemary Chicken Lasagna last night.  Click here for recipe.  It was a bit time consuming, but it turned out delicious (and was even better for left overs tonight).  Such flavor and a unique twist on normal lasagna.  If you are in Memphis, Luchessi's sells fresh pasta sheets by the pound at their deli counter.   Enjoy!

In Vegas for work! So far, so good. I'll have to say I've never seen a sign like this while eating dinner...


Dinner was at Top of the World in the Stratosphere Casino. It was quite an experience, but not somewhere I care to go again! However the gaming was decent!
