No way did I wait till the day my car tags expired to do anything about it...nor did I get up before the sun, so that I could be in the vehicle inspection line by 6:30 am...only to learn that my emergency break needs to be adjusted (oh and my Hydrocarbon levels are high)...then to find out the Downtown County Clerks Office doesn't open till 8 am...no I didn't work through lunch, so that I could 'let the lunch crowd thin out' only to wait in a line that was out the door at 2pm, just so I could pay $106 to drive on the streets of Memphis...thankfully Arden was in my same boat, so I at least had a friend to wait in the line with. Thanks Arden!


My very long day got much better when I met Janis for a 3 mile walk and then she stayed for dinner and some delicious pumpkin coffee and cupcakes (I made during my Cooking class yesterday (I'll save my class experience for another post!)).

Mom, Em, Lil and I ran a few errands and enjoyed a nice lunch.

When we got back to my house, Lily ran around...she has been walking holding you finger for a while, but now she is walking all by herself...turning and laughing...falling down and getting right back up. So sorry this video is sideways, but I can't seem to figure out how to turn it around.

Last night, I enjoyed a night out with the girls. We celebrated Jennifer's birthday at Boscos...enjoyed some Muddy's cupcakes...went to see Julie and Julia...and then went back to Boscos for one more Hefeweizen before it is out of season. The movie is definitely a chick flick...I laughed a lot and thought is was super cute. Great, Relaxing Saturday.

When typing directions in mapquest make sure the final destination that shows up is really where you want to go...it's okay to continue purchasing online, but make sure and don't save your credit card number on purchasing sites...good thing Chase has fraud protection...must once again say good bye to 1000 Island and Diet Coke...hello oil based dressings and more water...but must be careful not to drink too much water...don't worry about Ashley; I hear there are nice hostiles in Manhattan (bed bug free and everything)...what a wonderful place the Ronald McDonald House is...Remind Ray to call his dad and wish him a Very Happy Birthday. Speaking of birthdays, we had fun celebrating with Adeline...as you can see she really enjoyed her blue cookie monster cake...nice work Sarah!

We got a late start... as one of us had a few too many cold ones last night and couldn't seem to get up...the other one of us got up early and enjoyed a nice walk (man I'm out of shape)...absolutely beautiful morning...felt like fall. So ready for football season...this is the start of many fall weekends to come that we will be traveling 40 E. Today we are headed to celebrate Adeline's 2nd Birthday! Looking forward to a fun party with the Sesame Street gang and a low key night with friends. Happy Saturday!

ball game...buy me some BBQ nachos and a funnel cake...and in the case of the our guys...lots of iced cold ones...beautiful night (62 in August)...go Red Birds...Memphis has such a nice ball park...the #1 minor league team this year and it is ashame to see it so empty.

left over Gouda grits do not make good shrimp & grits...it's okay if you don't wash your hair everyday...sometimes sleep is more important...it's okay if you can't stop yourself from buying flowers every week...don't have 18 kids (did you see the grocery total on 18 Kids and Counting?)...one day you will own your own business and be your own boss...do not give up Hope...must document the first time Ray and I meet and our years of dating as Ree did (I'm loving reading about her and Marlboro Man)...when the rain stops make sure the lightening that made me jump 4 ft didn't hit our house...how do I check that?...only 3 more wake ups till the weekend...

Barefoot by Elin Hilderbrand...Mom said it was her favorite book of the summer, so I was anxious to start it. She was right, it was a great book...the best way to explain it is...a book about life. 3 women (& 2 kids), each with their own problems, escape to a cottage on Nantucket for the summer. The book takes several turns, but it is such an easy read and you feel like you are with them taking part in their story (which I love)...a story of life trials and triumphs. This book is for everyone...I can't think of anyone who wouldn't like it.

Ray's parents and sister arrived on Thursday for a fun filled weekend in Memphis. Weather was great. Ray played the dealer and taught his sister to play black jack...went to Tunica as well as the Racino...had breakfast at the Arcade, went shopping at the farmer's market...enjoyed some great food...loved hearing about Ashley's job and apartment hunting in New York (she leaves next week)...we had the best ice cream at Emack & Bolio's (thanks for the recommendation Kembree)...E&B slogan is Ice Cream for the connoisseur...run, do not walk to try E&B for yourself...if you like bananas, I highly recommend 'Mello Yellow Banana'...I believe a good time was had by all...

Taste of the Town

Kembree and I enjoyed tasting lots of food at the Taste of the Town benefiting Main Street West Memphis. The event was held at the track and was well attended...Denny joked that if the track was like this on Friday nights, he would hang out on a regular basis (it use to be...so sad it is so different now)...too bad the betting window wasn't open. Very nice set up...by far my favorite food was from the new steak house at Southland...they had these delicious crawfish wontons...loved the fried cheesecake from the Speedway...also found a new summer beer....Shock Top (of course it is from the Michelob family!). Great event LA...looking forward to next year already! Thanks for going Kembree!

1 year 'Blog'iversary. I started my blog a year ago today, because Emily wasn't blogging and it was my way to help her show pictures of Lily. However, it has turned into so much more. I love to write about day to day life...I wish I was much wittier with my writing, but what can I say...you get the real me. I never thought I would keep up, but I do. If you do not blog, I recommend it...it is the best thing I have done for myself over the past year. Even if you think you don't have anything to write about...you do...even if you don't share your link...do it for yourself. The best is to reread my blog...It is true Time Flies, but I love having it to go back and read. If I had a huge house and knew the almost 300 people who read my blog ( I mean seriously...do I know that many people...thank you for reading) I would have had a blogiversary party...and I would have served cupcake pops as the treats (I can't wait to have a reason to make these cute things). Headed on vacay...see you Monday!
