What a fun afternoon cheering on the polo match and stomping divots in Rossville, TN! The weather was perfect, the company great and the cause is one of my favorites!

Kicking off the 2014-15 JLM year!

Tonight was the 1st general membership meeting for the 2014-2015 Junior League Year and what an amazing meeting it was! We are not your mother's league anymore and this years President and Board is all about change! So instead of announcement after announcement, we had an introduction, a what's 'trending' and then jumped into an amazing speaker, Larry Jensen, who was all about Transforming Memphis! It was at the Shell and open to friends and spouses (yes a little hot, but oh so cool), with food trucks and a local brewery! We had a huge crowd! I'm so thankful for my JLM experience and friends (and look forward to the awesome meetings planned for the rest of the year!)

Art of Caring

Fun evening at Art of Caring for a great cause..Camp Good Grief.  A recent JL blog post told a bit more about this amazing camp for 6-12 year olds who have lost an immediate family member over the past year.  I have never got to go to the camp due to my work schedule and limited vacation days, but the stories I have heard make me wish I could be a buddy for the full week.

GROW and GIVE365

Tonight I got to pitch GROW with Director Casey to over 100 GIVE365 members at the new Hattiloo Theatre. Give 365 is an organization of people of all ages and races who give $1 a day to make a difference in their community.  It is in partnership with the Community Foundation.  We submitted an application asking for a $5,000 programming grant and we were selected as one of the 12 finalist out of the 45 submissions! There are some amazing things happening in Memphis and I really enjoyed hearing all of the other pitches! Wish us luck!

Fun, but not long enough weekend!

The Jone's had a wedding to attend and Lily wanted to go too since her best friend was the ring barrier, but Layne decided he wanted to stay with Nonna and Poppa.  Layne is a worker and he was such a big help cleaning with Nonna and delivering meat with Poppa!  After a Junior League lunch, Poppa brought Layne over and we went to the Memphis Fire Museum, fed the ducks, flew airplanes, went fishing, blew bubbles, played on the playground, went for pizza with the family and read tons and tons of books that were Ray's when he was a kid (they were all about trucks and trains, so Layne loved them!).  We even met up with Molly, Mullen and Nonna for some shopping on Sunday!  Such a fun time with my favorites!

Golden Anniversary!

Saturday morning I went to Leigh Ann's mom's funeral in Arkansas and then drove to Mississippi to celebrate The Robinson's 50th wedding anniversary.  Mrs. Robinson taught career orientation to my dad and mom and all 3 of us girls.  When I was in 8th grade we realized we shared the same birthday so she use to take me for a milkshake to share our 'special' day.  The Robinson's attended all of our weddings, so it was an honor to celebrate their 50th anniversary.  She had been planning this for awhile and she duplicated a lot of the original wedding details...all the way down to having the car they left in refurbished.  There had to be at least 200 people there which is just a tribute of their caring personalities!

There are 50 people that were at their wedding that are still alive and below are 25 of them!

Bright spots to the work week!

Lily and Layne came to spend a few nights with Nonna and Poppa, so in return we got to see them some too!  They all came over Wednesday night and after feeding the ducks, we went to dinner at Soul Fish...they both ate so good and then wanted ice cream (city life is like a vacation!), so that is where we went!

Layne can be so funny!  He loves to pretend to blink when you take his picture!
Then on Thursday night, dad's brother was in town, so I went over and kept them while they went to dinner.  A good friend of mines mom passed away, so we went to the grocery to get the stuff to make a honey bun cake.  Lily checked us out and was so proud!
They were huge helpers in cleaning the bowl for me!
Then Layne decided he wanted to bake a cake (I think he really just wanted to lick another bowl clean!). Anyway, Nonna had a cake mix, so he got to work.  He was just a singing while he was icing and it was the cutest thing!
They brought me purple hull peas from their garden, so I spent my Friday night (after a visitation) putting up 15 quarts of peas!  We love them and always enjoy them especially in the winter months!

Weekend with Mullen

This past weekend mom and I went and kept Mullen while Molly and Logan enjoyed their traditional anniversary weekend getaway to see a Cardinal's game in St. Louis.  He is just so much fun and is very content for the most part.  We played, did laundry, lowered Mullen's bed, cleaned Molly's closet, went out to eat, played some more, went to the lake, went walking and went swimming to name a few things!   We had the best time with Mullen!

I love his bed head look so much!

Lake Living is the life for me!

We had the most fantastic weekend (last weekend that is) at the lake with The Jones'.  We didn't have any plans for the weekend, so when Emily called, we were thrilled to be able to join them and Ms Kim and Mr Jim!  We went boat riding, swimming and cliff jumping.  We ate so much delicious food, played many games with the kids and just enjoyed relaxing!  Oh how I love being at the lake.  Thanks Jones'!

 Lily's 1st cliff jump...
She gradually got higher until she was at about the middle...after that jump she said she was never jumping again!

Lily's Art Party

I had the best time celebrating Lily with her school girlfriends at her Art Party!  Everything looked great...Em really out did herself.  They had creative juice, starving artsist snacks, pizza, cupcakes and super cute paint brush desserts.  They tie dyed t-shirts and made sand art flower pots and bracelets!  I was in charge of the tie dye station, so I didn't get many pictures, but I had so much fun!  As I was leaving and Lily was begging me to spend the night, I told her I had to go to work...she then said "When can you retire, Aunt Brooke?"  I laughed and said probably when you are my age Lily and she said, "Oh, that's not very long!" Love her so much!
