My new country fav...
Jason Aldean! I think he was recently in Memphis, but I didn't know I like him till tonight on the CMT awards. I've loved Dirt Road Anthem since I first heard it. I wasn't sure what to expect when they announced Jason was singing with ludacris, but I was into it! Okay...back to work...have a big review next week, which means I have a send the 60 page deck out on Friday!

My 1st Daylily of the season...
Now if I could just find the paper where I wrote down the varieties! My Grandpa Tex would be so disappointed, but he would be able to tell me the variety!

Busy...
This beach is packed and there are definitely not enough restaurants to accommodate...what a night we had. Then to our surprise the bar across from our hotel had the Velcro Pygmies playing tonight. They frequented the frat parties after UT games, so we were super excited. However, the power went out. We got to our hotel and the power is out here too! Not sure what happened, but all I have to say is it is a good thing flashlights are one of my categories...I had a couple of samples in my computer bag! I just hope it comes back on soon because it is getting hot in here!

The Twin Cities...
You know how I love dramatic weather...well, my favorite weathermen have been on since I got home from work (which I had planned to work late, but was advised to get home before the 'weather' came). Quote of the night so far, was from John Bryant...he said something along the lines of, 'Everything in purple is hail and WOW! I've never seen it cover the twin cities like that. Yes my friends, I love that John Bryant refereed to West Memphis and Marion as 'The Twin Cities'! Ok, I guess I might should clean out the closet, get my shoes on and find my cell phone.

Another weekend gone so fast...
Enjoyed a low key weekend...you know laundry, hair cut, grocery store...all the regular errands. Then last night, Ray and I enjoyed dinner at Cheffies (where we are becoming regulars...fast, delicious, healthy food...how can you go wrong?) and a movie. Today has been stormy, but that didn't stop us from church and Costco. Then I met the girls at Karen's daughter, Molly's, ballet recital. It was great Such a fun way to spend a rainy afternoon! And that gets us to Sunday night...really, the work week to weekend ratio has got to be adjusted.

These are a few of my Favorite Things...
Peonies! They are in season right now, so I made a special trip to Fresh Market last night to get a bunch! They just make me smile!

How about those Grizz? I'm so proud of how far they have come. I loved following them in the playoffs and can't wait for next season! I believe Zach Randolph is my fav!
Looking for something to drink besides water and caffeine filled carbonated drinks...look no further than the refrigerator section of your local grocery. This Light drink so refreshing and only has 15 calories!

My new favorite 100 calorie snack...I love chobani Greek yogurt, but their new kids honey-nana flavor is fantastic! I've only found them at Target, so it's an excuse to go to Target (not that I need an excuse to go to Target)!

A Good Day...
Yesterday, mom and I went to see Grandma and she was having a Good Day! Seriously, I can't recall the last time I was with her that she felt this good. At the beginning of May, mom and her sisters had to make the difficult decision of moving Grandma from her assisted living home in Searcy to a Nursing Home in Cabot because she needed more care than they could provide for her. I was not thrilled at all, but I knew it had to be done. Now, her new home is not the Ritz, but the people are so nice, you can tell that they really care for the patients and it seems clean. Grandma has a roommate, Ms. Ester. Ms. Ester is 92 and is so sweet...the nurse said that they watch Wheel of Fortune each night and they are so cute together. I really hope these Good Days become a trend for her!

Grandma felt so good that she asked us to help her get dressed and to put on powder and lipstick! When we asked her if she wanted to go get some lunch, she said yes! So, we picked up lunch and took it to my aunts house. My cousin's kids were there and we had a great time pushing Lauren and Miley around in Grandma's wheelchair! So cute!

Little Miss...
Google made my day, probably my week! I love that Google changes their type sometimes and today it just so happened to be Mr Hargreaves, the author of the Little Miss and Little Mr books 76th Birthday! Almost every hour, I had to go to google and see what image was up. I was brought back to my Little Miss Days...anyone else?

We Believe You Memphis...
What a fantastic Saturday...started at the 5K for Kids to benefit the Junior League! Mayor Wharton and his grandson kicked off the race and talked about how important it is for kids to eat and stay healthy!

I raced home, showered and we headed to Beale for some pregame fun at BB Kings and Silky's...then onto the Forum! I don't love NBA on TV, but I LOVE it in person!
Getting ready for the players to come out...
I love the Grass Roots effort of Believe Memphis! There was a foreigner in the suite with us and he was so into the game...it warmed my heart every time he said...We Believe You Memphis, We Believe You!
Everyone got a Believe Memphis t-shirt...
and a cheer towel...
After 4 quarters (where at one time we were behind by 15), we came back and won in OT! My throat is still sore from all my cheering!
Then we meet two of my favorite high school friends who were in town and their wives for a nice dinner at the new Italian place in Cooper/Young!
Now, I'm sad I'm not at the Forum for tonight's game, but you better believe I'll be cheering our Griz on...Believe Memphis!

Happy Mother's Day!

We missed spending the day with Mom, but she is at a reading conference. We will have to get together and celebrate sometime soon! And...we didn't get to spend the day with Grandma, because of I-40 being shut down due to the flooding.
However, Dad, Ray and I got to go and have lunch with Emily, Caleb and Lily. I also got to pick up my new containers that Emily ordered for me (as well as help Lily plant the window boxes on her playhouse and water at the store). A great day was had by all!

Celebration!
In celebration of the completion of the 1st year of GROW, we threw a year end party! We celebrated with hot wings, pizza and an AWESOME and DELICIOUS cake from The Cookie Florist (I highly recommend them). Below Rebecca, Bevan and I smile with Director Casey...Dir. Casey has lead the Lester Community Center since the 2nd day it opened and I look forward to his end of the night 'devotions' each week.
Chad Melon came and took portraits of each of the 37 families
So, so much fun was had by all!

Thank You...
For your Congratulations on my honor and your Concern for us. Yes, the Mississippi is showing its Might, but unless the Corp of Engineer's projection is off by 4+ feet, our home will be safe. We live on the West side of the Island and it was the East side that got evacuated (and that you are seeing live on the National News). We do run a risk of not being able to get on and off the Island and we have been told to be ready to evacuate with 30 secs notice (and to be sure we have cash and personal protection (I assume for the animals and snakes that the water has brought out), which did get me a little worried)! Over the last week it has taken forever to get to and from work, because everyone thinks they need to take a field trip to see the water or do a little fishing from our road...However, the police are now blocking roads and giving tickets, in an effort to only let residents on the Island. The below picture is compliments of WMCTV from Tuesday...a deer on the swim for dry land...the water is now 2 feet higher, but seems we have about 6 feet till it is over the road.

I've Got Spirit...
0r so I was told on Monday night at our final Jr League general membership meeting when I was honored with the 'Teri Schneider Spirit of the Junior League of Memphis' award! I had nominated several people for year end awards, but I never thought about getting one myself...so when I realized the person giving the award out was talking about me, I had to fight back tears. I had a fantastic committee of 16 people, a great leader (who was named Volunteer of the Year!!!) and a fantastic counter part who lead the other project at Lester. It was definitely team work that made this project so successful.
